Meet Our Interns: Samantha
Hi! My name is Samantha Russey. I currently attending Indiana University. I am majoring in Business Management through the Kelley School of Business.
I wanted this internship, with Kim King Smith Events, because I really enjoy event planning. I was very eager to learn the ins and outs of this industry. I hope to gain experience in effectively communicating with vendors and clients, how to prioritize what aspects need to be done and when, and how to handle planning multiple events at one time. I have high aspirations for this internship, and know that I will come out of this experience more knowledgeable about event planning!
I am really excited to be able to assist clients with their events and help them make lifetime memories.

Escort Card vs Place Card
Escort Card: A small card with the name of the guest on it, placed on a table, to tell the guest which table they will be seated at.
Place Card: A small card with the name of a guest on it, placed on the table, to indicate where he or she is to sit.
Which will you use? Know the difference and use the card that best suits your wedding needs.
Proper labeling: After you have decided, here are ways to address and label them properly. For a single guest and their date, Mr. John Jamison and guest. For a married couple, Dr. and Mrs. William Hartman, for a single guest, Ms. Megan Jones. Note that you do not need an escort card for each guest. You will need a place card for each guest. Dietary restriction may be flagged with a logo, monogram or color; usually near the right hand corner.
We love that Brides use these cards to assign guests to specific seats. The escort card gives the guest a place to sit and usually with others that they know and will love to share the evening with. It is also a great way to designate and alert wait staff of any guest having a special dietary restriction.
Escort cards don’t have to be to be a “card” and they certainly don’t have to be lined up like soldiers in little straight rows. We love adding personalization to the cards and even using unexpected elements in place of a place card. Whether you have a dramatic floral design or a fun decor accent on your table, guests will appreciate a little direction and having a space reserved especially for them. Which do you prefer?

We loved visitng with Joshua Graham one of the store’s stylists. He explained the signature pieces, the branding, the crystals and the service to us, all while we tried on bangle after bangle, c tiger striped crystal earrings and a few hand bags. After our purchases were secured, we lwere wowed at seeing it wrapped in the chocolate and white striped packaging and grosgrain ribbons embellished with white polka dots. Fun, fashion and fresh! All of our words for Bendl.

Wedding Planner Magazine
“Be the Driving Force for Tented Success” is the title of our feature article published in Wedding Planner Magazine, www.weddingplannermag.com for the May/June 2012 issue. We thank the Association of Bridal Consultants for asking us to write this article for their national wedding publication and we thank our many friends who contributed information and pictures.
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony and Kimberly “Conley” Denning
Our Bride and Groom, Kimberly and Anthony Denning could not have chosen a better
day to express their love; Their October wedding day was a perfect Autumn day with just
the lots of sun and bursts of blue skies. ……At last!
They both had a distinct vision of what they
wanted and we provided it! Anthony and Kimberly chose a ”Fall Sunset” theme with beautiful jewel tones of magenta, amber, coral and plums.
The former military couple met at their sons ballgames. Soon, Anthony became a “winner” with Kimberly. Next, they became engaged and the wedding planning began! After months of planning each detail, their big day finally arrived. What a wonderful group of people to work with! As family and friends gathered together to witness Kimberly and Anthony exchange their vows at University United Methodist Church we were fortunate enough to meet them all and enjoy their many talents. Anthony’s brother, Josh Denning, tours the world as a vocalist and gave an amazing rendition of . Julliard trained keyboardist Dr. Virginia Jefferson and her daughter, NYC entertainment attorney, Ms. Virginia Jefferson offered the ceremony music.
We will NEVER forget Kimberly coming down the aisle to “At Last”. All eyes were on the bride as she walked through the thousands of rose petals, making her way to the altar.
After the ceremony, guests travelled to the Embassy Suites for the reception. The ballroom at the Embassy Suites North was filled with hundreds of different shaped colored vases in the Bride’s palette of magenta, amber, plum, and gold. Kimberly ventured all over Indy to collect the unique and colorful vases that accented the tables. Each of the vases was unique in size and shape- allowing for her vision of a spectacular sunset look. We loved the accents of custom eggplant linens, gold chargers and colored votives glowing throughout the evening.
The dance floor was never empty and once Kimberly changed into her lighter, ’dance ready’ dress, she was in step doing the Electric Slide
with her minister. Dr. Moore’s smooth moves captured everyone on the dance floor, as they followed him step by step- Electric Sliding.
Kimberly, a former US Army Police Officer and her husband,Anthony a former US Air Force Dental Hygienist share a love for good food , and travel. Their goal is to explore the globe together. They are looking forward to travelling all around the world in the upcoming years.

Our friends at Barney’s New York www.barneys.com just sent me a picture of some shoes I had to share with you. As you all know, I love shoes. This time, Alexander Wang www.alexanderwang.com has really set the bar high with this pair. I love the rich ebony leather and the platform included for “comfort”.
