So what is the first thing people want to see when you get engaged? The RING of course! Although everyone’s eyes will be focused on the bling, if you will, Kim King Smith Events is here to provide you with simple ways to make your hands and nails look healthy and add that extra sparkle.  Although there are obviously many more costly options to pursue, here are some inexpensive ideas, with pricing, to give you a ”hands down” ritual; both day and night.

Some Favorite Polishes

Polish:                                                   -OPI Bubble Bath or Oh So Glam!: $8.50

Tips from the Pros

Beth at Dolce Salon and Spa in Carmel recommends manicures every one to two weeks and pedicures every month.  One of her favorite colors for brides is OPI Bubble Bath.  A very soft natural color with just a blush of pink, it is a gorgeous compliment to your bridal gown and flowers.

Other tips include:  taking your own manicure kit with you to the salon, always file in one direction, keep hands moisturized, wear gloves in the winter or when using chemicals and always have a top coat handing for a freshened up look.

Beth suggests using Solar Oil on your nails whenever possible.  Since it is a moisturizing oil, brushing it on just before a meeting or evening out will give your nails a sensationally healthy look.  Remember to use it before going to bed at night too.

Kassidy

Kassidy Galbraith has been interning with Kim King Smith Events now for over a semester.  Our partnership has grown and developed through many events and tasks.  Kassidy is majoring in Tourism, Convention and Event Management at IUPUI.

She has to have one of the best work ethics and personalities I know.  Well rounded, Kassidy is head life guard at Donner Pool in Columbus, works at Bath and Body Works, goes to school, and knows how to have fun. Luckily, she enjoys my love for basketball too!

I think her most daunting experience this summer was attending catering camp in Wisconsin.  This is a required course of study for all Tourism, Convention and Event Management majors.  Kassidy and her friends learned how “easy” (ha ha) the catering business was.  Seriously, it is hard, hard work with a lot of time and manual labor involved.  After hearing some stories, I don’t know if Kassidy will go into the catering business now, but I do know that she will be a superb event and wedding planner one day!  We just love Kassidy and wanted to share her with you!

Moss and Monograms, How Fun!

What a fun way to welcome your guests and show off your new monogram!  This picture from   http://diy.weddingbee.com/topic/miss-mascars-diy-project-mossy-initials     displays a great way to put your “signature’ on your wedding in a very “green” way.  Moss green is one of the new trendsetting colors and using the actual element will set your style apart.  I love using the monogram instead of the expected wreath or swag.  It’s  distinctive and will delight your guest.

Here’s another great idea and very “earth friendly”; a moss covered ringbearer’s pillow.  I thought this was very creative and can be ordered at http://www.etsy.com/listing/51963017/moss-ring-bearer-pillow

Ally Booth, Ace Assistant

I have a lot of bragging rites about my company.  Mostly that we are professional, highly educated, tremendously creative and a lot of fun.  One of my biggest brags is my incredible staff.  My ace assistant is Ally Booth.  Ally is a student at IUPUI majoring in Tourism, Convention and Event Management.  She is mature beyond her years.  The type of solid individual you want working on important times in your life.
Ally graduated from Southport High School. It doesn’t surprise me that she  was an honors student, in National Honors Society, played soccer and was in show choir. I just discovered that she has been scrapbooking since middle school! Of course, this parallels with her love of taking pictures at our events.
I am so proud of Ally.   A few weeks ago she went to Cambodia on a missions trip. There she worked with girls that had been rescued from sex trafficking. Ally knows how to make a difference!
At IUPUI she is in Alpha Sigma Alpha and may I say VERY dedicated.  Currently she isVice President of Public Relations and Recruitment.
Ally has been with Kim King Smith Events since September 2009.  She states, “Weddings are a joy and a privilege to work and attend. In the future I plan on working within the industry. I know that God will open the right doors in the right time!” In her free time she enjoys running, hanging out with those who mean the most to her, making cookies and scrapbooking.

Her list of favorite things include:  the color orange, The Cheesecake Factory, the movies, Man On Fire,  and Pursuit of Happiness, TV show, the Amazing Race and favorite flower the gerber daisy.

Make sure to get to know Ally at our next event.  She will make your day even happier and be a pleasure to know!

Patiotic Garters Are Red Hot!

My assistant Kathleen, just discovered these great garters for a patriotic themed wedding.  They are created by Julianne Smith and have been seen on WE TV, The Today Show, Martha Stewart, Southern Weddings and more!

These could create a lot of fun and action for your Fourth of July or Patriotic themed wedding.  They are ready for delivery and begin at $42 each.  Go to http://www.etsy.com/shop/thegartergirl for more info.  If the Fourth isn’t your theme, there are lots of others to select from.

Happy Fourth, Kim

Great Rides for Brides!

I just discovered this great website.  http://www.abridesride.com/2008/01/blog-post.html offers vintage cars all over the US in the color and style you want for your wedding!  How exciting and fun!!  Along with the ride you may also purchase these custom banners.  There are several selections of the banner ribbon and sayings.  What a way to pull off into the sunset!  The banners begin at $47 and the rides at $250.  Just another great idea to provide for our readers here at Kim King Smith Events.
