The Magic of Elegance: Owen Valley Junior Senior Prom 2011
We were fortunate to be asked to attend the prom this year! It was thrilling to receive the invitation to coordinate and design the Owen Valley High School Junior Senior Prom 2011. This would be the first year ever that the prom would be held enitrely at the school.
To make it extra special, we went to work with fundraising events that gave the prom committee the extras they needed for a great prom. Tons of news releases, special posters and the creation of the Extreme Pancake Breakfast plus Little Prince and Princess Contest for a new event, the Grand March, paid off.
We had our work cut out for us and enjoyed every single second! Transforming the gymnasium into an elegant ballroom was so much fun. Special lighting and gobo from Evans Audio Visual www.evansav.com transformed the room as the DJ kept EVERYONE ON THE FLOOR the entire night! We’ve never seen anything like it and were thrilled the attendees were having such a great time plus completely exhausted from dancing so much! The sweets bar was a special treat along with the decorated tables and fabulous entry way.
The prom didn’t stop there. Our coordination and partnership of the Post Prom had everyone taking their chances on fun and gifts. A DJ, casino room, refreshments and prizes all kept the attendees there until the very last minute; just in time to take a ‘breakfast to go bag” with them.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Owen Valley Junior Class and parents. We already have some great ideas for next year!

You’re Engaged! Enjoy!
I bet you can’t believe it has happened? You are engaged! This will be one of the most magical and happiest times of your life. The time has finally arrived, enjoy every single moment of it.
Don’t worry about jumping into wedding mode, instead savor this time first. Show that ring off, call friends and family, change your status on Facebook. This can be one of the best times ever and you should enjoy it!
I bet you are thinking…..what do I do next? When you are ready to get down to business, make a plan that will work for you. Here are some tips on how to begin planning your wedding from all of us at Kim King Smith Events.
1. Plan on an engagement party. Remember, practicing good etiquette requires that someone else host the party unless you will be announcing your engagement at the party.
2. Ready to let the world know? After family and friends have been notified, “Bring Out the Press”. Consider placing your engagement announcement in your hometown paper and your fiancé’s hometown paper, as well as the papers in the community in which you now live. Consider including your engagement news in any alumni and professional publications that publish milestone announcements too. Make sure to follow their criteria for publication so that you will be ” in the news” before you know it.
3. Buy a few wedding books or magazines. Take a trip to the bookstore and you may stay for hours.
4. Purchase a large binder to keep all of your notes, ideas, favorite songs and important documents in.
5. Have a meeting with all who will be contributing to the budget to determine exactly what your budget will be.
6. Open a checking account exclusively for your wedding expenditures.
7. Meet with professional bridal consultants. See who seems to mesh with your personality best and has the skills you really need.
8. Get out the pencil and paper and make a preliminary guest list.
9. Think about potential ceremony site and reception sites. This can be determined in the amount of guests and the location that suits you best. Your planner will be able to help you make the right decision.
10. Ask your planner for referrals of wedding professionals.
11. Breathe! You’ve taken the first steps into an event of a lifetime, enjoy!

Alli and Colin
Alli and Colin make me smile! They were so happy, so sweet! We were delighted to assist them with their wedding, It was urban chic at its best. Held at the marvelous Mavris Center, it had a lot of urban elements we loved. The loft hosted a very intimate and sweet ceremony, the rooftop a fun and fabulous cocktail hour with the reception being clean lined, urban chic. We won’t forget the lively dancing and laughter, the gorgeous palette of fuchsia, lime and cornflower, the streams of electric blue lights, the dear families and friends or the bright lights of the city shining down on this very special couple.

A Little Royal Bling
Here’s what you have been waiting for! Leave it to us to be one of the first to let you know………
Now you can own Kate Middleton-designed jewelry

She may soon be decked out in glittering bling, but just a few years ago, Kate Middleton was designing it.
In 2007, the soon-to-be princess collaborated with British designer Claudia Bradby on a stylish pendant necklace, which Bradby is now re-releasing to honor Kate’s upcoming nuptials. The 14-inch sterling silver snake chain features a silver bean with rose quartz and pink pearl charm.
“I thought it would be a good idea to reissue it to celebrate their engagement,” the designer told the London Evening Standard. In case there was any doubt of Kate’s involvement, Bradby added, “She was very specific about what she wanted — it was her concept.”
Kate harbors a love of fashion, much as her fiance’s mother, Princess Diana, did; in 2006, she was an assistant accessories buyer at women’s wear chain Jigsaw. Her fashionista credentials also include being named to People Magazine’s 2010 best-dressed list, Vanity Fair’s international best-dressed list, and as one of Richard Blackwell’s 10 “Fabulous Fashion Independents” of 2007.
And now a piece of Middleton-designed fashion history can be yours for just $71. It’s a small price to pay for the opportunity to respond to compliments by saying casually: “Oh, this? Kate Middleton designed it for me.” http://windsorknot.todayshow.com/_news/2010/12/06/5599543-now-you-can-own-kate-middleton-designed-jewelry
Thank you, MSNBC.
